I was told by the woman that according to the fair credit reporting act that she cannot even legally do that? Is that true, if so I don' t understand how I have seen so many success stories. I really do not want to make full payment until I can reach some type of agreement with them. Should I work with the original creditor to see if I can make good with them? Also, do I need to work with the original creditor regardless because the were the ones who were owed the debt if I in fact want to clear this of my record? I just want to get this wrapped up and also cleared up if possible. I currently have never had and still have only this mark on my credit report along with one late payment on a credit card from 6-8 years back. I would hate to see that screwed up because of this, thanks in advance for your help. After explaining to her what happened (I moved abroad and never received the final bill or their notifications to pay), she said she'd make an exception an have it removed b/c I didn't get their letters. So, it does work, just ask nicely and don't give up.
