Finding credit help, particularly online, has become systematically (and disgustingly) difficult. As you may recall I expressed my frustration with the lack of honest, responsible resources available for people who want to repair their credit score in my first blog entry, “Why I Am Starting A Credit Blog“. While I did rant about the lack of credit resources in that entry, I cut short of actually evaluating the purpose or mechanism behind this shortcoming. After a couple of nights, deep in thought, and given my experience, I have composed a rather solid argument of why it’s so difficult to find honest credit help.
As a premise for my argument, I am going to assume that there are indeed a substantial number of resources available –they are, however, decentralized and flooded out by a competitive market. This market, of course, includes credit reporting agencies (which have no official status by the way –more on this in another article), debt consolidators, and so-called “organizations” designed to help folks fix their bad credit, etc, etc. These organizations and companies have been extremely successful in capturing the attention of their intended audience, and thus, furthering their ability to skew the playing field.
Sifting Through The Credit Repair Garbage

Without exhaustingly writing a whole essay on this subject, I am going to simply outline a few reasons why particular sectors have been so successful in flushing out people’s ability to gauge what information is being honestly provided, and what information is being marketed.
First, one must attempt to illustrate a general profile of a person looking for credit help. Generally, as it has been my experience, this profile encompasses people that want to fix their credit extremely quickly (usually in an attempt to buy a house in the near future) –they are basically in a hell of a hurry. Also, one must assume that people seeking help are not particularly interested in indulging themselves in a hoard of financial and regulatory documents that even lawyers find difficultly in deciphering.
Without invalidating all of the information provided by 90% of the results you will find when you google, “credit help”, I will say the factors I have already stated, have given these organizations the ability to project the process of credit repair as ridiculously simple, while also asserting that credit repair is a process that one cannot do on one’s own. This, of course, is not true. In fact, organizations that claim they possess some official ability to repair your credit are lying. The truth is, rather, that these organizations can only execute within regulation. Therefore, everything they will do to repair your credit, you can do –for free.
Credit “organizations” want you to be confused
These organizations obviously know this. Therefore part of their business strategy is to inject so much garbage into the arena that the normal person finds it extremely difficult to sift through it. Of course, if they can succeed in this, likely the person will give up, say, “this is too much information for me to read through. I am in a hurry!“, and decide to hand the task off to someone else, i.e., a so-called “credit repair” organization. Politicians engineer similar mechanisms during elections –with a goal of making something as simple as voting too complex to even bother. Such strategies are particularly well-utilized during presidential elections, because the major parties don’t want you to vote. If the majority of Americans (most of whom are not conservative or liberal but somewhere in between) don’t vote, they can narrow their uncertain votes and rely on hardcore party members.
I hope this provides a suitable explanation as to why it is so difficult to find credit help. I encourage you to continue reading The Better Credit Blog, as it is my sincere pleasure to sift through all of the credit repair garbage and provide you with the tools that will truly enable you to repair your credit. Also kindly note that the services and products I endorse on this website have been personally used by myself.

thanks for this
It’s my pleasure.
This is a common problem. Credit repair is complicated, aggrivating and annoying. Believe me, I tried myself, then I decided to hire someone and got ripped off by a law firm called lexington credit attorneys, then I tried another company which did nothing. Finally I used a company called credit assistance network in florida and amazingly they did a great job. They were not able to remove everything negative, but they did get most of it off. My point is, be very careful about finding the right solution to your problem because the wrong decison can land you with even bigger problems than you had to begin with.
It’s really not easy to get out of “bad credit” situation. I’ve been there and it sure takes a while. There’s no “overnight cure” to it. One thing that I recommend is to get help from an expert. Although you should be warned that shopping for honest credit repair service isn’t that simple either. With heaps of misinformation floating around about credit companies, it’s plain to see why people sometimes have difficulty deciding which company can provide honest-to-goodness help. As expected, every company claims itself to be the best choice.
You may turn to credit review sites to gain insights, but believe me; they’re not entirely reliable as basis for selecting. You may have observed that many of these review sites are associates of the companies they review. Now, I’m not saying that these reviews have no value; just that you have to keep in mind that they are probably biased towards the affiliates.
So rather than base your decision on credit repair reviews, which may very well be one-sided; it is best to learn basic knowledge about credit repair and the services that credit repair companies offer. Find time to call a number of these companies, so you can get a first hand idea of how receptive they are and how proficiently they handle themselves.
You need the right company to fit your needs. The fact is that Credit Repair Organizations are governed by extremely strict laws called the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA for short). Credit Repair companies need to be in full compliance with these laws to be legal.
A company offering to sell you an ebook for $900 with “free” disputes is a violation, a company that promises ANY result is in violation. You can visit our website for a free consultation, but we are not the right fit for everyone…
